The New Twitter is Finally Here

The new twitter design layout rolled out for many users at the end of September and has finally arrived for the Emarketed Twitter account!

Some cool new features include:

  • Endless scrolling for tweets on the lefthand panel. No need to click “More” to view additional tweets!
  • View offsite media – You can now see embedded videos and video directly from the right hand panel. For your convenience, you can see it all without leaving Twitter
  • Preview profiles before you follow. Clicking on a user will showcase a mini profile preview on the right hand panel. You can see all their info and quickly scroll for more or exit before you follow.
  • And of course, shortcuts for the busy folks:

Some bad things about the new Twitter:

  • Too much going on. Going from one panel to two is a big change. It took awhile to get used to, especially because everything is now in one place.
  • Doesn’t leave much room for design and branding. The customizable space on the right is significantly reduced.
  • Can’t view the time and date of a person’s last tweet without clicking on their profile. It only takes one click to see but I miss this feature when browsing users from a list.

Check out Mashable’s take on the new design and how it it’s based on the Gold Ratio. What do you think? Love it or hate it?

5 SEO Plugins for WordPress

Before you start blogging, you might want to consider some of these SEO plugins. They’ll help search engines find and crawl your content:

1) All-In-One SEO Pack – No blog should be complete without this tool. It’s a quick and simple way to enter all your keywords, tags, meta information, categories and more.

2) Google XML Sitemaps – This useful plugin will notify search engines every time a post is updated. This is the most efficient way for search engines to find and index all your blog content.

3) SEO Slugs – This plugin improves SEO visibility by automatically renaming the post’s file name . It will remove words that aren’t necessary in the eyes of search engines – words like “a”, “in”, and “if”. Optimized titles will help your blog get crawled more efficiently.

4) SEO Smart Links – If there’s one thing search engines like, it’s interlinking or self-linking within your own blog posts. This shows that your content is relevant and connected. This plugin automatically links keywords in your posts with other corresponding posts.

5) Simple Tags –  Simple Tags allows you to mass edit tags, suggest related tags, create tag clouds and more. It’s an easy tool to manage all your tags from one place.

What are some of your favorite WordPress plugins?

Google AdWords Editor

I’d recommend using Google AdWords Editor if you manage over 100 words for your pay per click campaigns. Google is at it again with a new version just released. You can download AdWords Editor 6.5 and load your user ID and password in and be managing your account within minutes, We’ve been using the editor for a few years now and it saves us hours of frustration, tears, and sweat on a weekly basis.

A few of the new features from the latest update:

  • Horizontal scrolling when viewing data
  • Updated calendar so you can view statistics
  • New keyword opportunities tool (my favorite!)

A few of the existing features that have saved us hours of work:

  • Bulk changes/uploads
  • Easily copy or move keywords or ads between ad groups and campaigns
  • Quick navigation
  • It’s Free!

It’s baffeling to me sometimes to think of all the different departments at Google that are just working on one aspect of the great company that provides so much more than just search.
